Be in my friend's video!

Jenn Franklin is an independent singer/songwriter out of Nashville who also happens to be a college buddy of mine.

Jenn is working on a new music video for her song "Ready As I Am", and you can be in it!  She says the song is about "taking chances now and forgetting about waiting until all those pesky ducks are in a row.  It's about the perfectly amazing things we can do as beautifully imperfect humans."  The song also touches on the pressures women face in our society to match up to the photoshopped images we're surrounded with daily.

If you want to be in the video, just send a photo of yourself holding a sign with the message, "I'm read to ________."  Just fill in the blank!  Empower yourself and others to be courageous, take chances, love yourself, love your body, etc.  Anyone, any age can participate (even your kids)!

For more information, to hear the song, and to submit your photo click here to visit Jenn Franklin's website.

Ticking Away the Moments...

Not that anyone but A-Ron is following this blog (yet), but I wanted to let you ALL know that I'm less than a week away from going into the studio to start tracking "I Am", my debut song as a solo artist. Every last part will be played by me. Obviously not simultaneously.

After I get it recorded, mixed and posted I'll start working on more tracks. My intention is to bring in local musician friends for cameos, and maybe even use the lovely invention called the internet to have friends in other locales drop tracks. I wonder if I can do an international version?

Note to self: Start making friends with Swedes or something.

WTF: Is Nothing Sacred?

Eddie Vedder slapped me upside the head last night while I was watching TV with my wife. Then, he proceeded to punch me in the face for a full 30 seconds.

I'm referring, of course, to the Target commercial for Pearl Jam's new album. Not only is the anti-corporate progenitor of grunge doing commercials, they're selling their album exclusively at a single retailer.

W. T. F.

Now don't get me wrong, I'm not against artists doing commercials. I'm certainly not anti-Target. I love spending money there, because that means Walmart isn't getting my money. (Yes, I hate Walmart!) I'd do a commercial for Target in a split second!

But I'm not Eddie Vedder. Sons of One isn't Pearl Jam. I haven't spent my career battling corporatism. I haven't made it a defining characteristic of my public life.

Is it so much to ask for a little consistency in our heroes? As Eric Cartman would say, "The FUCK"! I was forced to give up on Hetfield and Metallica in 1991. Lucky for me a band called Pearl Jam came out that year.

I guess this lends credence to the addage, "Nothing is sacred."

Why, Pearl Jam? You're freaking icons. You have tons of money. Why do this?

Why?
